The School of Media & Communication at Korea University won the Excellence Award at the 1st Media Diversity Awards hosted by the Korean Association for Journalism. The awards ceremony took place during the Korean Association for Journalism's 2022 Autumn Regular Academic Conference held at Seoul National University on October 15th (Saturday).

The Media Diversity Awards were established by the Korean Association for Journalism in 2022 to widely promote the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the academic and industrial fields of media studies and media industry. Organizations that contributed to enhancing diversity values in academia (universities, research institutes, civil organizations) and the industry sector (production companies, broadcasting companies, programs) were selected as recipients, and the Schoo of Media & Communication received the Excellence Award on behalf of academia. The Kyunghyang Shinmun newspaper won the Grand Prize, and KBS was selected for the Best Prize.

The Schoon of Media & Communication has continuously made efforts to enhance diversity among its faculty, resulting in significant achievements in expanding gender balance and academic diversity. On an educational level, the department successfully incorporates various approaches to understanding media phenomena into its curriculum.
