Journalism Club Q Introduction

<Journalism Club Q> originated from the N Club seminar, a study group led by Professor Park Jaeyoung. It is a forum comprised of active journalists and media scholars dedicated to realizing quality journalism amid digital transformation. Established as a corporation on December 1, 2022, it had 102 members as of March 2023. Since January 2023, monthly seminars have been organized to discuss topics such as the future of journalism, ethical considerations in covering sensitive topics like bereaved families, and techniques for generating story ideas.

Vision and Goals

<Journalism Club Q> was founded to address issues within the journalism industry, including the decline in the quality of digital information, decreasing profitability, misinformation, and public distrust in the media. It serves as an academic-industry collaboration platform where journalists and media scholars research exemplary journalistic practices and study article writing and reporting methods together. Key initiatives include education for enhancing journalistic skills, recognition of outstanding articles to promote high-quality journalism, research on media-related laws, policies, and systems. The club aims to make substantial contributions to overcoming the crisis in journalism institutions and the industry.

Excellence

<Journalism Club Q> actively shares exemplary journalistic practices, offering concrete directions to improve journalistic quality among practicing journalists. Major media outlets have acknowledged the club's societal contributions and are increasingly recognizing its founding principles, as evidenced by a Media Today article dated November 5, 2022. Future participation from journalism graduate students is anticipated. Through close communication and collaboration between media scholars and journalists, the club aims to promote innovative research in journalism closely tied to industry issues.
