On Friday, September 22nd, the 11th Korea Media Panel Academic Conference, jointly hosted by the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), the Korean Broadcasting Society, and the Korean Survey Research Association, was held. The Korean Media Panel Survey is a nationally authorized statistical survey conducted to understand the medium- to long-term changes in media consumption patterns of households and household members in the rapidly changing media environment.

This academic conference served as a platform for sharing research outcomes utilizing panel data collected over the past 13 years. Among the three outstanding graduate student papers presented at this conference, Go Chae-eun, a fourth-semester master's student, was awarded the Best Paper Award for her paper titled <The Impact of Living with (Grand)Children on the Digital Device Literacy of the Elderly>.

This paper focused on the potential roles that children and grandchildren within households can play as digital facilitators. Utilizing the 2022 Korean Media Panel Survey data from KISDI, the study analyzed the influence of living with (grand)children on the digital literacy levels of the elderly. Specifically, considering the demographic characteristics of the elderly population, the study examined how the influence of living with (grand)children varies depending on age, income, and education level.

Chae-eun expressed that winning this award felt particularly meaningful as it was based on the development of a term paper from her graduate coursework. She conveyed deep gratitude to her professors and colleagues and expressed her desire to continue meaningful learning and research in the future, fueled by this achievement.
