Introduction to Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Support Project
Established with support from the Korea Research Foundation's Social Science Support Project (SSK), the Center for Intelligence Information Technology and Social Issues Research at Korea University has been conducting research for the past 10 years through small-scale 3-year, medium-scale 3-year, and large-scale 4-year projects aimed at addressing social issues caused by intelligence information technology. After successfully completing the project, the Center for Intelligence Information Technology and Social Issues Research aimed to expand research themes to the institute level for further advancement. Therefore, the Information Culture Research Institute was selected for the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Support Project, supported by the Korea Research Foundation from September 2023 to August 2029, and began research on the theme "Issues of Intelligence Information Technology and Individual Organizational Society: Diagnosis and Solutions" (Research Director: Professor Kim Sungchul, Institute Director: Professor Jung Yunhyuk).
The Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Support Project involves the participation of the research director, Professor Kim Sungchul from Korea University, along with 4 co-researchers, 4 full-time researchers, and 1 administrative staff member. The co-researchers each oversee specific sub-projects from the perspectives of intelligence information technology and individual, organizational, and social issues. Professor Oh Hana from Korea University is responsible for a sub-project related to individual issues surrounding intelligence information technology, diagnosing and providing solutions by combining medical knowledge and social scientific awareness. Professor Jung Yunhyuk, the director of the Information Culture Research Institute, is in charge of a sub-project related to organizational issues, analyzing the media industry transformed by intelligence information technology and providing strategic guidelines for companies. Professor Jin Dal Yong, a chair professor at Simon Fraser University in Canada, oversees a sub-project focused on diagnosing global social issues and proposing solutions. Professor Kim Jung Hwan from Pukyong National University is responsible for a sub-project addressing local social issues including regional and small business issues. The full-time researchers include Dr. Kim Minseong, Dr. Oh Ryeong, Dr. Im Cheolmin, and Dr. Ham Minjeong.
