The 3rd M-Tree (Media Tree) Scholarship Award Ceremony for the Department of Media & Communication took place on December 1st, 2022, Thursday, at 5:00 PM in Room 412 of the Media Building. The M-Tree Scholarship, established through a donation from Professor Hong Ki-seon, a professor emeritus of the Department of Media & Communication, is awarded to media students who demonstrate passion and potential to lead the future of the media field. Applications for the 3rd batch of scholarship recipients were accepted from September 15th to September 29th, and the selection process included document screening and interviews. The final selected students include Oh In-gyun, Jo Yeon-jin (Class of '18), Yoon Ji-young (Class of '19), Lee Seong-hyun, and Lee Yoo-jin (Class of '20), totaling 5 recipients. A total scholarship fund of 15 million won was awarded to the recipients.


The ceremony was attended by various professors including Professor Min Young, the head of the Department of Media & Communication, as well as 1st and 2nd batch scholarship recipients, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Professor Jung Yoon-hyuk presided over the event, which included opening remarks from the department head, awarding of certificates, speeches by representatives of previous batches of scholarship recipients, and remarks from the current recipients. Professor Min Young highlighted the background of the M-Tree Scholarship and the selection process for the 3rd batch of recipients, extending congratulations to the awardees. 1st batch scholarship recipient, student Kim Bo-seung, emphasized the importance of communication and harmony among M-Tree scholars, encouraging fellow students. The 3rd batch scholarship recipients are planning activities such as brochure production to promote awareness of the M-Tree Scholarship among their peers and the members of the Department of Media & Communication.
