Korea University's School of Media & Communication has been awarded the 1st Korea University Diversity Award. The Diversity Award, introduced as part of the President's Awards in 2022, is presented to Korea University members who have contributed to practicing diversity values in fields such as education, research, and social contribution. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, December 20th, at 2:00 PM at the Korea University Centennial Memorial Hall. Alongside the School of Media & Communication, the Disability Student Support Center Supporters Association and Professor Lee Jong-gu from the Human-Inspired AI Research Institute were selected as awardees.


The School of Media & Communication has long been committed to increasing diversity among its faculty in terms of gender, alma mater, and specific expertise. It has also actively integrated diversity values into its curriculum and educational content by establishing various courses. The department demonstrates the highest level of diversity among colleges/departments at Korea University, as indicated by the Diversity Index of Faculty (KUDI-I) produced by the Diversity Committee. Additionally, in October 2022, the School of Media & Communication received an Excellence Award at the 1st Media Diversity Awards held by the Korean Association for Journalism Studies.
