The School of Media & Communication has been selected for a large-scale national research project with a budget of 20 billion Korean won, including matching funds, from the Korea Research Foundation's Social Science Research (SSK) program. This project will run from 2019 to 2023, providing research support for a total of four years. The "Center for Intelligent Information Technology and Social Issues Research" within the Department of Media Studies, led by Professor Kim Sungchul, has previously received research funding of 9.9 billion won from the SSK program (small and medium-sized phases) since 2014.

The "Center for Intelligent Information Technology and Social Issues Research" aims to enhance social understanding through research from both technological and industrial perspectives on intelligent information technology, as well as socio-technical perspectives. Additionally, it seeks to contribute to solving social problems caused by intelligent information technology.

Moving forward, the center plans to provide monthly research stipends to graduate students affiliated with the center, support their participation in international academic conferences, facilitate publication in international peer-reviewed journals, and engage in various academic activities. Particularly, the department plans to conduct a student research program for undergraduate students during vacations to support and activate their diverse intellectual explorations.

Students who are interested in participating in various activities of the research center are encouraged to contact Professor Kim Sungchul of the Department of Media Studies for further inquiries.
